The Door In The Floor

A big-screen adaptation by by writer-director Tod Williams of John Irving’s acclaimed novel “A Widow for One Year,” The Door in the Floor features original music composed by pianist and composer Marcelo Zarvos – a man who has written for virtually ever medium, from dance to concert stage, film, television and theater.

This particular film is set in the beach community of East Hampton, New York, and captures a pivotal summer in the lives of the famous children’s book author Ted Cole (Jeff Bridges) and his wife Marion Cole (Kim Basinger), as their marriage undergoes a tragic transformation due to the effects of Cole’s young assistant, Eddie O’Hare.

The film music of composer Marcelo Zarvos has been praised for its “affecting score, which neither drowns out nor underplays the steady sentiment of the film.” Among his other recent film scores are the hit comedy Kissing Jessica Stein, The Mudge Boy, Tully, Academy Award nominated short film A Soccer Story, as well as a collaboration with Eumir Deodato on Bossa Nova.


"The Door in the Floor" is a Focus Features release and opens in the US on July 14th.
